Sharing local visions & shaping global attention = Partilhar visões locais e moldar a atenção global

Vacheron, Joël (ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne, HES-SO // University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland)

If digital languages and technologies are changing the methods and meaning of sharing, and are shaping us and the world in the process, natural narrative language offers a tool for Shaping and Sharing thinking upon the impacts and implications of these systems; a means of translating the fragmented quantified logic of digital language and the database through the qualitative reasoning and reflection of the written word. The Shaping and Sharing publication is not designed to be a catalogue, but an additional object through which to think through the Sharing and Shaping programme’s themes. The publication looks to publishing as an act of making public; an inherent act of sharing, in which thoughts are given a form, as a ground on which further thinking might take shape. Here diverse discourses – from the digital humanities to fiction – are called upon and materialised through four original essays and a short story.
