Résumé

Dennis Adams is not the only guest of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program to scrutinize archival material in its role as historical docmentation, recombining it in novel ways. A list that could be extended much further includes Allan Sekula, Renée Green, Stan Douglas, Johan Grimonprez, Jimmie Durham, Ana Torfs, Georges Adéagbo, Theo Eshetu, Martha Rosler, Willem de Rooij, Matthew Buckingham, Phil Collins, Milica Tomić, Mona Vătămanu & Florin Tudor, and Armando Andrade Tudela. All of these artists reveal a continuity in artistic forms of production that challenge history by adopting perspectives on historical documents that are psychoanalytic, pop cultural, subjective, discursive, comparative and, above all, contemporary, and/or by demanding that voice be given to the undocumented.
