Abecedarium : Esperanto, No More Talking or Learning by the Images

Midal, Alexandra (HEAD - Genève, Haute école d'art et de design, HES-SO // Haute école spécialisée de Suisse occidentale)

Esperanto, No More Talking, explores the relation between education, film and design. How do images work? Have they become a language for designers to spread over ideas and concepts? Can images be a valid attempt to get across an idea and can they forge an invisible, yet effective link between designers and viewers, and between education and people? What drives designers to choose visuality over discourse? Is language superfluous to design education and transmission? Can a non-discursive form of intelligibility operate alone? Iconic and unknown cinematic works will be discussed, projects will be screened, and performances will be enacted in short, dynamic vignettes.
